Spring Mysteries — Part 1

Shhhhh…  My new house has a secret…  And only with the help of warm spring weather and bright sunshine will it be revealed.  We just have to wait a little longer…

Out front, nestled in a cozy blanket of bark mulch, are mysteries… Brown, spindly, thorny mysteries…  But they are only lying dormant for the remainder of winter and with each gust of wind, it is as though they are dancing and smiling in anticipation of the moment — the moment they can reveal their secret.

Meet mystery contestant #1:

He hung onto a few leaves for the long, hard winter… Are those buds the beginning of new leaves or are flowers going to peak out through in a couple of months?

Meet mystery contestant #2:

He’s thorny and brown like a plant compiled entirely of twigs.  Is he a rose bush?  If not, what kind of plant is he?  What will the leaves look like?  Will he have flowers?

What will these three look like?  One looks like he’s made out of straw…  The other two are still vibrant green but will the summer sun give them a new look?

It occurred to me the other day that I have no idea what type of plants are surrounding my house.  The discovery may be a simple thing…  But it’s an exciting thing… And I can’t wait!

I love that you find the most everyday things and turn them into a wonderful exciting game. I need to look at life through your eyes.

You will have to take pictures once the flowers come!

I loved finding surprises at our home, we’ve been here almost five years and my garden produces new ones for me all the time. I think i know what a few of your mystery plants are… but I don’t want to spoil your fun! 🙂
