Wait… What was I worrying about again?

Just the other night, I hopped into bed and let out a bit of a groan.

“What’s the matter?” Nate asked.

My reply was a jumbled mess of words.  “Do you ever feel worried, because you had just been worrying about something?  But then you can’t remember what you were worrying about, but you still feel worried. So then you have to try to remember what in the world you’re so worried about?”

Silence.

Then Nate replied, “I feel worried about you.”

I’ve said it before on this blog…  One fault of mine is my tendency to worry, instead of letting go and just trusting God.  And I’ve been working hard on this over the past few months.  Initiating my Worry Box (which is really just a shoe-box filled with little bits of paper that I write worries on) has really helped.  The act of physically writing down a worry, and then hiding it away in the care of the One who actually can handle the situation has been a huge step in the right direction.

And so this morning, still slightly plagued by the feeling of worry that I couldn’t put my finger on, I wrote on a piece of paper “the worry I can’t remember.”   I said a quick prayer, tossed it into my box, and then went on my merry way.  🙂

Awww, I feel so much better now!!

Happy Friday, Everyone!!!  Any fun plans for the new weekend ahead of us??

Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? Matthew 6:27.

I think it is a big tendency of women to worry, worry, WORRY! I know it can be a problem for me. Glad you give your worries (even if you can’t remember them) to God! 🙂 Have a great day!!

I used a glass jar with a screw on lid and stuck it in the freezer. Your box is much simpler. It’s hard to break an old habit isn’t it? Consider yourself prayed for.

Oh girl, I hear ya with the worry. I’ve definitely had times when I can’t even remember what I was worried about either. I love that you have a worry box! Enjoy your weekend. 🙂

Nicole, I’m working with a company that just created a cool new worry box to help teach our children how to handle worries better as kids so they can be better equipped as adults. I’d love for you to check it out. May I mail one to you?

  9. Nicole, I’m sending you this note again because I think you may not have received my first one. I read your worry box post and would really like your feedback on a new product a company I’m working with created. It’s called My Worry Box and created to teach kids therapeutic journaling as well as serve as a parenting tool to foster communication to equip kids with skills at a young age to handle worries better. May I send you a sample to review?

Hi Denise, therapeutic journaling is definitely something I can relate to. I’ve been journaing since I was 9… and I am very interested in your ‘My Worry Box’ project. 🙂 Is there a website that I can check out to learn more, before I commit?
