‘Tis the season for indulging…
Or is it?
This is the time of year that gyms are the least busy. When scales are stashed into the corners of messy closets. When stretchy pants become the epitome of fashion and chocolate becomes a major food group.
Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything! 😉
The main reason for all this — in my opinion — is due to the fact that people decide to just give up on the dieting, healthy eating, and exercising during the season of indulgent foods and decide to let it slide until that first day in January.
After all, why eat healthy today when there are two holiday parties next week? Why focus on healthy habits, when January 1st — a start to a brand new year — is just around the corner?
Well, I couldn’t have said it better than Samantha from Bikini Birthday.
She wrote, “Rather than waiting until January 1st to make resolutions after all the holiday gluttony and lethargy, I will stop the unhealthy behaviours before it starts so that I can wake up in a new year as a healthier me!”
Wait… Start healthy resolutions now?? Through the holiday season?
It took me just until the end of Samantha’s blog post to decide that I wanted to be a part of her healthy holiday challenge. It’s not about giving up on foods you love or being too busy working out at the gym that you won’t have time to chillax while watching a favorite Christmas movie.
It’s about balance. About challenging yourself to adopt a few healthy habits so that you have a head start going into the new year.
And I can’t think of one reason not to give this a shot! After all, I imagine that the holiday season will be a ton more enjoyable if you’re feeling healthy, strong, and energetic! 🙂
So here goes!
50 Day Holiday Health Challenge Details
Start Date: November 6th
End Date: December 25th (Christmas)
Check In: I will try to post weekly updates as a Fitness Friday segment.
Nicole’s Healthy Commitments:
#1. Keep a Food Journal. I’d like to make sure that I balance the indulging with plenty of fruits and veggies. 🙂
#2 Work out 4 days a week. It’s been awhile since I’ve had a regular work-out routine, so if I can do more than 4 days, that’s awesome. But I’ll be happy with four to start.
#3. Drink 6-8 glasses of water a day. I don’t always drink enough water, so this will be a great motivator.
#4. Cut back on processed sugar.
Are you going to participate in the Healthy Challenge? If so, stop by Samantha’s blog by clicking on the link below and let her know that you’ll be joining in! 🙂
