For me and Nate, stepping into Home Depot is a bit like letting a five year old loose in a candy store. It’s excitement and dreams and sweet, sweet satisfaction. And, well, it’s maybe just a tad bit dangerous.
But oh how we love it!
Since we both determined, when we first bought the house, that we were going to decorate our home without putting anything on the credit card, our visits to Home Depot are a bit sporadic, compared to your typical home owner. We tend to not walk in there until we’ve saved up a nice little chunk of money….unless we’re there to get ideas as to what we want to save money for.
But when we do have money… Look out, here we come!
There’s definite satisfaction when you find something that’s going to make your house feel a little bit more like yours. When you find that perfect lamp, painting, or light fixture that fits the personality of your living space. And trust me, the satisfaction is only deeper when you pay for that item in cash.
Because there’s no guilt! (You know, like that five year old in the candy store).
During this past trip, we bought the light fixture you see above in my cart (and in the pic below). It’s for the first-floor bathroom, which we will be painting yellow soon.
We also bought this light for the kitchen, to hang over the island…
…. and this country chandelier for the dining room (the fixture at the bottom left).
I must say, it feels good. Real good. As difficult as it is to be moving so slowly through this process, it’s an amazing feeling to know that we pay for everything we buy right then and there.
And it sure makes us appreciate our purchases that much more!
Now let’s start hanging some lights!!! 🙂
